My Personal Suggested Alternative May Birthstones are lab-created Emerald and Emerald-green YAG. Both synthetics,
the lab-created Emerald is "real" Emerald (see www.gemstoneartist.com/domestic.asp), but
available for a fraction of the cost - and in large sizes of perfect color. The YAG is a durable synthetic with perfect
color and more sparkle than any Emerald. It is available in large sizes to support large, fancy-cut gems. It is durable
in wear.
