and finished with 50k Voodoo Polish.
|
13.4 mm 16.04-carat Portuguese-cut Sphalerite, pre-polished with 3k Voodoo,
and finished with 50k Voodoo Polish.
|
9.2 mm, 3.83-carat Fluorite from the U.K. cut in an unstacked version of
my Short-Round 12635 faceting design, pre-polished on 3k Voodoo and finished on 50k Voodoo.
|
10.4 mm, 3.75-carat Trillion design Blue Apatite pre-polished on a red Newbond lap and
finished quickly on 50k Voodoo.
|
5.7 mm, .59-carat hexagonal step-cut of a precious Fire Opal from Mexico, sporting a
centered needle inclusion. This stone was pre-polished on red Newbond and finished very
rapidly on 50k Voodoo – with no issues where the needle breaches the table.
|
10.2 mm, 7.43-carat Strontium in my Short-Round 12635 faceting diagram,
pre-polished on red Newbond and finished quickly on 50k Voodoo.

|
11.4 x 7.8 mm, 3.94-carat Sunstone rendering of
my Left-Eye faceting diagram
was one of the first stones polished using Voodoo. Pre-polished on 3k Voodoo and finished
instantly with 50k Voodoo.
|
10.2 x 6.7 mm, 3.35-carat emerald-style cut of Epidote from Afghanistan was pre-polished
on 3k Voodoo and finished almost instantly on 50k Voodoo.
|
11.3 x 6.4 mm, 2.76-carat free-form step cut of Epidote from Afghanistan, pre-polished
on red Newbond and finished very quickly on 14k Voodoo.
|
13 x 11.8 mm, 7.92-carat free-form Kunzite oriented exactly on the C axis,
with reflector and concave pavilion and step-cut crown. The pavilion concaves were
cut with 12k metal-bond diamond, pre-polished with 3k diamond on Copper, and
finish-polished with 14k Voodoo on a Corian mandrel at full-throttle.
|
14 x 6.2 mm, 3.84-carat modified-emerald Hiddenite oriented exactly on the A-B axis
(so the huge pavilion reflector face and the table are both exactly on the cleavage).
Flat faces were pre-polished on red Newbond and finish-polished with 14k Voodoo.
Concave faces were cut with 1200 metal-bond and polished directly afterward using
14k Voodoo. Click here for a high-res image of the table and nearby faces.
|
37 x 14.7 mm, 56.5-carat exceptionally-rare concave-modified emerald Spodumene oriented exactly on the A-B axis
(so the huge table and the other larger crown faces are all exactly on the cleavage).
Flat faces were pre-polished on red Newbond and finish-polished with 14k Voodoo on Corian.
Concave faces were cut with 1200 metal-bond, pre-polished with 3k on Copper, and finish-polished using
14k Voodoo on Corian. Click here for one high-res image of the pavilion - or

|
17.1 x 11.7 mm, 11.02-carat Lemon Quartz, oriented and cut to display a "Phantom Angel"
pre-polished on red Newbond and finished on 50k Voodoo. The huge 13 x 12 mm pavilion
reflector faces required a fresh charge of 50k, and a careful touch on slower speed to
remove all scratches.
|
13.1 x 4.4 mm, 2.43-carat modified Emerald-cut Tourmaline from Mozambique was pre-polished
on red Newbond and finished with 14k Voodoo.
|
I placed some concave facets on the pavilion of this native-cut African Paraiba Tourmaline
to liven it up for a client. They were cut on 600 metal-bond, pre-polished with 3k on Copper
and finish-polished using 14k Voodoo. Polishing time was less than one minute per face - and
without the circumfrential scoring that's common to most concave polishing strategies.
Click here for one high-res image showing how smooth the concaves are -
and click here for the other.
|
11.4 x 9.4 mm, 6.05-carat Emerald cut Namibian Aquamarine cut on a 600 metal-bond lap,
pre-polished on 3k Voodoo and finished with 50k Voodoo.
|
8.8 mm, 3.83-carat Square Emerald-style Aquamarine was cut on a worn 600 metal-bond
lap and polished using 14k Voodoo.
|
15.3 x 10 mm, 8.69-carat Pink Topaz from Pakistan, carefully oriented on-cleavage just to
challenge the Voodoo - The lap had to be reversed because the keel kept cleaving-off during cutting!
The gem was pre-polished with a red Newbond lap. Step faces were finished with 14k Voodoo,
and the table (approx 10 x 5 mm) was polished using 50k Voodoo. Time required for table
was < 1 minute. Click here for an image of the table polish.
|
10.7 mm, 8.71-carat Rutile-needle-included White Topaz had to be dopped exactly
on-cleavage, as the Rutile was oriented to the C axis of the stone. It was pre-polished
on a red Newbond lap with step-faces finished on 14k Voodoo, and the on-cleavage table
was finished on 50k Voodoo within 30 seconds.
|
6.5 mm, 1.31-carat natural pink Tunduru Spinel was cut on a well-worn metal-bond 600 lap
and then finish-polished with 14k Voodoo on Corian turning at ~700 RPM.
|
18 x 13. 5 mm, 36.24-carat blue Cubic Zirconia faceted in my ECED Meetpoint Radiant 125 faceting diagram
finished with astonishing ease - including the 11.5 x 7 mm table, which polished in about 3 minutes at
60 rpm on 50k Voodoo. Faces that needed meet-adjustments were finish-polished at 700+ rpm!
